Prime Minister of Thailand Receives OIC Secretary-General

Today, at the Thai Government House in Bangkok, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, received the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, during his ongoing official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand. Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

The Thai Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the OIC Secretary-General for his visit and reiterated the importance that his Government attaches to its partnership with the OIC. He emphasized the attention given to the Muslim world and recalled the various supports provided by Thailand to the OIC, particularly the Islamic Solidarity Fund and assistance to some OIC Member States. The Prime Minister stressed the efforts made by his Government to protect the Muslims in Thailand and their well-being.

The OIC Secretary-General conveyed his respectful greetings to the King of Thailand and expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and his Government for their constant engagement with the OIC. He commended Thailand for its active cooperation with the OIC General Secretariat and Member States. Furthermore, he praised Thailand for being a model of peaceful coexistence between religious communities and for ensuring the full integration and inclusion of Muslims in the country’s social fabric.

The Prime Minister of Thailand and the OIC Secretary-General reviewed the bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on new prospects of collaboration, particularly in the fields of agriculture, education, and training, that could benefit the OIC member states.
