Riyadh: The rababah, a locally made traditional single-string instrument favored by Bedouin communities, drew strong engagement from visitors at the Northern Borders Region Principality pavilion during the Ministry of Interior's Security Oasis exhibition held at the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival.
According to Saudi Press Agency, widely known across several regions of the Kingdom, the rababah is played by drawing a bow across its single string, while the fingers of the other hand control the tones produced through subtle variations in finger placement and bowing technique. The instrument is often accompanied by sung poetic verses, creating a harmonious blend of music and oral tradition.
The presentation of the rababah comes as part of community initiatives aimed at highlighting the region's popular heritage.
