Ramadan in Saudi Arabia: A Shared Experience Among Citizens and Residents

Riyadh: The presence of expatriates in Saudi society during Ramadan has evolved from a limited observation to a daily partnership woven into the fabric of social life. The Ramadan experience is now shared by both citizens and residents in the same spaces, shaped by practicing common customs and values rather than simply watching or adopting them.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this transformation is clearly seen in residential neighborhoods, workplaces, mosques, group iftar gatherings, and public parks. These spaces no longer distinguish between nationalities as much as they bring everyone together under the same rhythm of the holy month. Fasting hours, iftar times, acts of worship, and patterns of daily life are shared by all.

Head of the Sudanese community in Taif Almughira Ali said that the Ramadan memories residents carry with them when leaving the Kingdom are built on the human relationships formed during the month and the shared way of life that is repeated and renewed each year. He added that this shared social experience has helped create a positive image of Saudi society, based on closeness, communication, and mutual respect.

He also emphasized that Ramadan scenes reflect the community's ability to embrace cultural diversity within a unified value system, making Ramadan a shared space of identity rather than just a fleeting occasion in memory.
