Al-jouf: Rural resorts are playing a growing role in revitalizing tourism in Al-Jouf Region, attracting visitors from within and outside the region who seek relaxing experiences characterized by tranquility, simplicity, authenticity, and breathtaking natural scenery.
According to Saudi Press Agency, these resorts are distinguished by their traditional architectural style, which reflects Al-Jouf's rich heritage and incorporates natural elements such as local stone and wood. These materials are used in seating areas, decorative features, and sculptures designed to express the region's cultural identity. Traditional elements, including tents and Bedouin-style houses, further enhance the authentic atmosphere offered to visitors.
Local vegetation, particularly olive and palm trees, adds a unique aesthetic dimension to the experience, blending nature with heritage. Additionally, several residents have transformed their farms into tourist destinations, attracting nature lovers and diversifying the region's tourism offerings.
The Kingdom has witnessed growing interest in developing rural and agricultural tourism as part of broader efforts to diversify the tourism sector. In this context, the 'Agricultural Tourism Atlas' was recently prepared through cooperation between the Saudi Reef Program and the Saudi Tourism Authority.
The official spokesperson for the Saudi Reef Program, Majid Al-Buraikan, explained that the atlas represents a qualitative leap in supporting and promoting rural tourism. He noted that it provides an interactive digital platform that opens new horizons for empowering rural communities and enhancing the marketing of authentic rural products across the Kingdom.
