New york: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia concluded its participation in the 2025 United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), held from July 14 to 23, 2025. The forum brought together nations to review global efforts and progress made toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined in the 2030 Agenda. According to Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom's delegation was led by Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Alibrahim and included representatives from nine government entities: the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Saudi Fund for Development, Al Madinah Region Development Authority, the National Center for Wildlife, and the Quality of Life Program. During the Kingdom's address at the forum, Alibrahim emphasized Saudi Vision 2030 as a national transformation project that has swiftly improved the Kingdom's standing among G20 nations in sustainable development indicators. He stressed the importance of structured action and effective policies in achieving meaningful progress. He also highlighted local initiatives like the 'Atlas of Sustainable Development in Al Madinah Neighborhoods,' launched by Al Madinah Region Development Authority, which provided extensive data to aid policy-making. Saudi Arabia was notably recognized by the UN-Water Commission for its advancements in the SDG 6 Integrated Water Resources Management Index. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture shared insights on the Kingdom's progress in water security and sustainability, emphasizing the Action Plan for Sustainable Development Goal 6. In collaboration with other ministries and authorities, a side event was organized to stress the significance of sector integration, institutional capabilities, and innovation in accelerating SDG progress. The Saudi Fund for Development showcased its contributions to global sustainable development through a pavilion, highlighting its efforts in various key sectors. On the sidelines, Alibrahim engaged with high-level officials to discuss potential collaborations and strategic partnerships to boost economic and investment opportunities. The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development has been an annual event under the United Nations Economic and Social Council since 2012.
