Muscat: Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) President Fahad Al-Dossari took part in the 12th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Permanent Committee for Statistical Affairs, which was hosted by Oman on September 4 and 5. The gathering brought together leaders from national statistical agencies across GCC countries to focus on significant statistical developments and explore ways to enhance cooperation and integration.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Dossari emphasized the necessity of unifying GCC statistical efforts to adapt to global changes. He pointed out that a stronger statistical integration is vital for fostering economic and social growth and for enhancing the region's position in international reports. Al-Dossari also commended the efforts of the Statistical Center for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC-STAT) in coordinating these initiatives.
The meeting concluded with several recommendations, including boosting the exchange of expertise, improving statistical infrastructure, and enhancing capacity-building programs to strengthen the statistical capabilities of the GCC countries.
