Riyadh: Saudi Arabia is leveraging a comprehensive transportation network, including railways, ports, and airports, to facilitate the journeys of pilgrims, emphasizing their comfort and safety. The Kingdom’s commitment is evident in the significant technical and human resources dedicated to ensuring the success of their Hajj journeys.

According to Saudi Press Agency, a key aspect of this commitment is the extensive road network leading to the holy sites, serving pilgrims from eight neighboring countries. The Roads General Authority has developed these routes to modern specifications, incorporating advanced traffic systems for enhanced safety and convenience. Notable routes include those serving pilgrims from Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, and Oman, with distances ranging from approximately 1,200 to over 2,100 km.

In preparation for the upcoming Hajj season, the authority has undertaken extensive maintenance, including surveying, resurfacing, shoulder trimming, sand dune removal, and barrier repairs. These efforts align with the roads sector strategy’s goals of achieving a high global ranking in road quality and reducing traffic fatalities, ultimately enhancing the connectivity of the holy sites and the overall pilgrim experience.
