Riyadh: A joint statement was issued by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Trkiye, Qatar, and Egypt, condemning Israel's continued settlement activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministers categorically rejected the 'E1' settlement plan and associated settlement activities east of occupied East Jerusalem. They emphasized that these actions violate international law and United Nations resolutions, threatening regional and international peace and security. The statement also condemned violence by settlers against Palestinians, facilitated by Israeli authorities, stressing that such acts do not diminish the rights of Palestinian people.
The joint statement highlighted the 'E1' settlement plan as a dangerous step that undermines the geographical continuity of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly affecting the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The ministers warned that these actions threaten the viability of establishing an independent Palestinian State based on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and challenge international peace efforts, including those initiated by President Donald Trump.
Reaffirming their commitment to a two-state solution, the ministers stated that this remains the only path to a just and lasting peace. They cautioned that undermining this solution could escalate tensions and jeopardize regional stability. The ministers also supported accountability measures, including sanctions against entities and individuals involved in illegal settlement activities.
The statement concluded with a call for immediate action to halt the 'E1' settlement plan and cease all settlement activities. The ministers urged the United Nations Security Council and international actors to uphold international law, protect Palestinian rights, and support the realization of an independent Palestinian state.
