Riyadh:Municipal authorities in Saudi Arabia have developed extensive public spaces in the first half of 2026, including 667 kilometers of pedestrian pathways and sidewalks, 108 municipal squares covering approximately 1.28 million square meters, 44 parks spanning over 803,000 square meters, and 3,070 linear meters of waterfront promenades.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Riyadh Municipality led with the most extensive pedestrian network, totaling approximately 517 kilometers, and 101 municipal squares. The largest park area was recorded by Madinah Municipality at 417,600 square meters. Meanwhile, the Eastern Region Municipality spearheaded waterfront development with 1,920 meters, followed by Tabuk Municipality with 1,150 meters.
These developments are part of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing's strategy to create livable and accessible cities. The expansion of pedestrian networks, increased access to parks and public spaces, and improved municipal services are aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to establish sustainable and attractive urban communities.
