Saudi Delegation Head Highlights Kingdom’s Urban Development Success in Egypt.

Cairo: Heading the Saudi delegation at the 12th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12) in Cairo, Prince Dr. Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf spotlighted Saudi Arabia's extensive experience in developing cities and improving the quality of life for their residents. According to Saudi Press Agency, since 2016, Saudi Arabia has embraced an ambitious national vision aimed at the year 2030, as stated by Prince Faisal during a speech at the forum's ministerial roundtable. This multifaceted vision addresses various aspects of human life through 27 sub-objectives. He emphasized that a part of this vision includes enhancing livability in Saudi cities, alongside economic, environmental, and social aspects significantly influenced by urban areas. Prince Faisal highlighted the Kingdom's rich experience in urban development and enhancing livability through numerous initiatives and projects. Seventeen municipalities are actively working to translate Saudi Vision into practical initiatives, benefiting both residents and v isitors. He pointed out notable projects such as King Salman Park, the Sports Boulevard, and the Diriyah project, as well as environmental programs like the Saudi Green Initiative. The prince praised Saudi Arabia's efforts across various fields, achieving notable success. In the housing sector, the percentage of Saudi households owning homes rose to over 63% by the end of 2023. The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has made significant strides in innovation and urban technology, developing a sustainable digital system. These efforts recently resulted in Saudi Arabia achieving a historic advancement, ranking fourth globally, second among Group of Twenty (G20) countries, and first regionally in the Online Service Index (OSI) in the United Nations' E-Government Survey 2024. Prince Faisal also noted that the survey recognized the Kingdom as securing the sixth position globally in the E-Government Development Index (EGDI), with Riyadh ranking third among global cities in the Local Online Service Index (LOSI ). Concluding his speech, Prince Faisal highlighted the Kingdom's efforts to strengthen relations and share expertise with numerous global capitals across various fields, contributing to the realization of Vision 2030 and enhancing mutual benefits towards societal advancement and progress.
