Mexico City: The Saudi Film Commission, a branch of the Saudi Ministry of Culture, has announced the debut of Saudi Film Nights in Mexico, scheduled from May 6 to 11. This event follows the success of previous editions held in France, Morocco, Australia, China, and India, which attracted significant attendance and involved numerous influential figures from the film industry. The event aims to support and showcase local Saudi talent while promoting global cultural exchange.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the event will take place across Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. It will feature the screening of four notable Saudi films, including the feature films 'My Driver and I' by director Ahd Kamel and 'Holes' by director Abdulmohsen Aldhabaan. Additionally, the short films 'Fishbowl' by director Reema Almajid and 'Mera Mera Mera' by director Khaled Zidan will be presented. Each screening will be followed by panel discussions involving the filmmakers and participating talents.
The screenings will occur at some of Mexico's most prominent cultural and cinematic venues. In Mexico City, the event will be hosted at Cineteca Nacional, a leading institution in the country's cinematic landscape. In Guadalajara, Cineteca FICG, the main venue of the Guadalajara International Film Festival, will host the event, providing a vibrant platform for global cinematic exchange. In Monterrey, Cineteca Nuevo Le³n, a renowned independent cinema known for promoting film education and dialogue, will serve as the venue.
These initiatives highlight the Saudi Film Commission's commitment to advancing the film sector and supporting local talent, while fostering opportunities for cultural exchange on a global scale.
