Saudi Fund for Development Showcases Global Impact at African Forum

Freetown: The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) concluded its participation in the third annual high-level African Forum on South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development, held from May 7 to May 9 in Sierra Leone. The event served as a platform for the SFD to demonstrate its commitment to fostering sustainable development across the globe.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the SFD presented a virtual interactive pavilion during the forum, showcasing its significant development projects, programs, and success stories since its inception in 1974. The pavilion highlighted the fund's contributions to various developing countries, underscoring its role as a catalyst for social growth and economic prosperity.

The SFD was represented by Dr. Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al-Sakran, Executive Director of Strategy and Development, who participated in a panel discussion titled 'Economic Resilience for the Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan of Agenda 2063 and SDGs: Role of MDBs and UN Agencies.' Dr. Al-Sakran emphasized the fund's extensive developmental efforts over the past five decades, focusing on projects that aim to enhance social and economic conditions globally.

The fund has a rich history of supporting development initiatives worldwide, having financed more than 800 projects and programs in over 100 developing countries. With a total financial commitment exceeding $21 billion USD, these projects are pivotal in driving sustainable development and ensuring long-term socio-economic progress.
