Riyadh: The fourth session of the Saudi-Spanish Joint Commission is set to begin Wednesday in Riyadh, with two days of meetings scheduled from May 21 to 22. The session will be co-chaired by Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Alibrahim and Spanish Minister of Economy, Trade and Business Carlos Cuerpo Caballero.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this meeting marks a new milestone in bilateral relations, following the third session held in Madrid in October 2022. The commission's agenda includes the Saudi-Spanish Business Forum, organized by the Federation of Saudi Chambers in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Planning and the Ministry of Investment. The forum will focus on enhancing private sector engagement, forming new partnerships, and highlighting investment opportunities in key sectors such as logistics, construction, food, sports, and tourism.
The Saudi-Spanish Joint Business Forum will also hold its meeting to strengthen cooperation between business leaders from both countries. A Spanish delegation will participate in bilateral meetings with senior Saudi officials to explore additional areas of collaboration.
According to the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), trade between the two countries reached SAR22.9 billion by the end of 2024, with Saudi exports totaling SAR12.4 billion and imports from Spain amounting to SAR10.5 billion.
The Saudi-Spanish Joint Commission reflects both nations' shared commitment to advancing economic ties and fostering a forward-looking partnership built on mutual interests.
