SFDA Seizes 571 Unlicensed Establishments During Hajj Season

Riyadh: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has taken action against 571 unlicensed establishments involved in producing and storing food, medicines, and medical devices in Makkah and Madinah regions. These establishments have been referred to the appropriate authorities for legal action.

The SFDA has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to public safety by conducting a staggering 3,676 inspection visits to facilities under its supervision. These inspections during the Hajj season are a testament to the SFDA’s dedication to ensuring the safety of food, medicines, and medical products and creating a secure environment for all.

SFDA, in its commitment to transparency and accountability, urges the public to play an active role in ensuring food and drug safety. It encourages the public to report any violations that may pose a risk to the health of pilgrims by calling the unified number (19999).

The authority urged all establishments under SFDA’s supervision to comply with rules, regulations, and quality
standards to ensure the safety of the food provided to pilgrims, stressing that it will impose maximum penalties on violators in collaboration with the relevant authorities.
