NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed his confidence that the alliance cannot allow Russia to win the conflict in Ukraine, because this will become the greatest threat to the alliance.
‘The biggest threat will be a Russian victory in Ukraine,’ Stoltenberg said at the official opening ceremony of the NATO summit in Washington. ‘We cannot allow that to happen.’
According to the Secretary-General, the Ukrainian conflict is the main security threat in recent decades, and a Moscow victory will be an incentive for other NATO adversaries, including Iran, North Korea and China.
Earlier, White House Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said that the upcoming NATO summit in Washington will make several important announcements about assistance to Ukraine.
