The Council of Ministers holds its twenty-third regular session headed by Al-Sudani and takes several decisions

Baghdad, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired today, Tuesday, the twenty-third regular session of the Council of Ministers, during which the most important files and topics related to the progress of implementing the government program were discussed, as well as the topics included on the agenda, and the necessary decisions were taken regarding them.

At the beginning of the session, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the step taken by the Council of Representatives, by approving the budget tables, submitted pursuant to Law No. (13 of 2023), the Federal General Budget Law of the Republic of Iraq for the fiscal years (2023, 2024, 2025), appreciating the great effort made by all political forces, the Presidency of Parliament, and the Finance Committee, and considered it a responsible position that completes what the government and the relevant ministries have started, to accommodate the financial capacity and various obligations.

Al-Sudani directed the Ministries of Planning and Financ
e to take into account the procedural aspects, as the government attaches great importance to launching projects without obstacles, pointing out that the budget of (211) trillion dinars requires the integrity of procedures and care in investing financial allocations, in a way that preserves public money and blocks the road to corruption attempts.

Al-Sudani reiterated the need for all oversight bodies to cooperate to set an executive path for projects, especially since the citizen is waiting for an improvement in the service, living and development reality, and the tables include positives that contribute to the path of economic reform, supporting the private sector and enabling it to contribute strongly to creating job opportunities and providing services.

He also touched on the issue of the UN Security Council setting a date for the end of the work of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), which came in response to the request of the Iraqi government, stressing that this matter represents
an international and UN recognition of the progress achieved in the Iraqi arena in all fields, and represents a positive message on the path of the political process and the political system with its constitutional institutions and national political forces capable of managing the country, with the determination and resolve of our people to confront challenges, foremost of which is the defeated terrorism of ISIS, and the challenges of building the state and law.

The Prime Minister stressed that this achievement was made thanks to the sacrifices of our people and our armed forces of all kinds, and the insistence on the peaceful transfer of power, indicating that all readings and reports of the relevant international organizations indicate an evaluation of performance that supports stability, which is in line with the aspirations of our citizens, and opens horizons towards comprehensive development in all systems and areas of life, economic and social.

Al-Sudani explained that the recent resolution of the UN
Security Council places Iraq at the heart of its civilizational role, as a cornerstone in any security and economic stability process that the region and the world need, which is consistent with our policy of consolidating Iraq’s positive role in supporting global and regional peace, and standing by the just causes facing our Arab and Islamic world, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, noting that ending the work of the UNAMI mission does not mean a break, but rather cooperation will continue in economic, development, climate and environment programs, and technical assistance in the elections.

With the approach of Eid al-Adha, the Prime Minister directed that the official departments’ holiday will start from Sunday, June 16, until Thursday, June 20, with official work resuming on Sunday, June 23.

In implementation of the Prime Minister’s directives during his chairmanship of the second meeting of the Higher Committee for Coordination between the Council of Ministers and Federations and Unions in the
periodic hosting of the heads of federations and unions in the Council of Ministers, the President of the Iraqi Bar Association, Ahlam Al-Lami, was hosted, who presented a paper containing several proposals related to improving the conditions of lawyers, facilitating their visits to ministries and other government institutions, and amending some laws that support and facilitate the work of lawyers.

The Prime Minister praised the role of lawyers in building the state and ensuring rights, stressing the government’s work to provide all the requirements that help in the success of this mission, which contributes to achieving justice and ensuring legal and constitutional rights, and directed all ministries to cooperate with the Bar Association.

He also directed the formation of a committee from the Secretariat of the Higher Committee for Trade Unions and Federations and a representative of the Legal Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and a representative of the government in the H
ouse of Representatives to study what was stated in the paper submitted by the Bar Association.

In order to support investment projects and the work of the private sector; The Council of Ministers approved what was stated in the letter of the Advisory Board dated May 29, 2024, regarding Land ownership for industrial projects.
