The Deputy Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting

The Deputy Prime Minister, HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, today chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet highlighted the importance of the address given by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the 18th consultative meeting of the leaders of the GCC & the Gulf summit with the central Asian countries C5, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. On behalf of HM the King, Bahrain’s delegation was led by His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and National Security Advisor, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The Cabinet noted the efforts of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, to ensure the success of the summit which seeks to foster human solidarity and stabilise international relations.

The Cabinet reviewed the progress made in the implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in previous cabinet meetings, by the relevant authorities to ensure the success of Ashura in line with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s respect for all faiths and coexistence, which is distinguished by its strong social fabric. In this regard, the Cabinet took note of the meeting held between the Minister of Interior, the General Authority of Husseini Processions, and heads of Husseiniyas in the Kingdom.

The Cabinet also noted the statements of the Husseiniya leaders, which reflected awareness, national responsibility, and commitment to the success of Ashura by preserving Bahrain’s united community.

On the occasion of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the Cabinet commended the Kingdom’s achievements in combating trafficking in persons, which has received international recognition, expressing its appreciation for the active role of the Ministry of Interior and all concerned authorities in this regard.

During the meeting, the Cabinet discussed several memorandums, approving the following:

1. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law to ratify the amendment to the Arab Charter on Human Rights.

2. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law approving the accession of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Convention on Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic, adopted in 1965.

3. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft decision to modify certain provisions of the executive regulations of the Buildings Regulation Law. The decision aims to further develop the “Benayat” platform, by assigning certain tasks undertaken by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture with regard to buildings to the engineering offices.

4. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the Government Security Program Agreement between the National Cyber Security Centre and Microsoft.

5. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a bilateral agreement between the Survey and Land Registration Bureau and the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office.

6. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to seven proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives.

Finally, the Cabinet noted the following ministerial reports:

1. The outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact.

2. The outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

3. Bahrain’s presentation of the second Voluntary National Review (VNR) at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
