The Iraqi government affirmed keenness to support international and regional initiatives and efforts aimed at resolving conflicts and settling disputes by peaceful means.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations, Muhammad Hussein Muhammad Bahr Al-Uloum, headed the delegation of the Republic of Iraq participating in the second ministerial meeting among the member states of the Arab League and the countries of the Pacific islands, which was held today, Monday, in the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, headed by Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, and Gustav Itaro, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Palau, Coordinator for the Pacific Islands Group, and with the participation of the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

Bahr al-Uloum stressed in Iraq’s speech, according to the statement, the importance of the meeting to discuss the political, economic and cultural partnerships between the Arab and Pacific worlds, to exchange views and strengthen the bonds of cooperation and rapprochement in light of the many challenges the world is going through.

He also affirmed the Iraqi government’s keenness to support all international and regional initiatives and efforts aimed at resolving conflicts, settling disputes by peaceful means, and building bridges of cooperation based on absolute faith in the principles of international law and good neighborliness.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed Iraq’s firm and firm position in supporting the Palestinian cause and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the face of the repeated Israeli aggressions.
