The Iraqi Observatory for Journalistic Freedoms affiliated with the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate denounced the “barbaric and primitive way” in which civilian gunmen attacked a number of satellite channel correspondents who were covering a demonstration protesting the failure to supply Karbala governorate with electric power on Sunday night.

Correspondents pointed out that they pointed weapons at them and threatened them by force, among them the correspondents of the Change channel, Al-Itijah channel, Al-Baghdadiya channel, I-News channel, and others who were on the spot.

Haider Hadi, the free correspondent of the Iraqi Observatory for Press Freedoms, confirmed: “The aggressors were threatening them in front of the police officers who did not move a finger despite their brandishing of arms and despite the presence of a number of protesters, explaining that they went to the judiciary to convict the aggressors and bring them to receive their just punishment.”
