Ramallah – Ma’an – The Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs and the Prisoners’ Club confirmed today, Monday, the martyrdom of detainee Omar Abdul Aziz Fadl Junaid (26 years old) from Jabalia on June 17, as a result of being subjected to torture in the (Sde Teiman) camp.

The announcement of the martyrdom of the detainee Junaid comes several days after the (HaMoked) organization officially informed his family that the occupation had given them a response regarding his fate, stating that Omar was martyred on June 17, without further details.

The Authority and the Club stated in their statement that the Israeli occupation army arrested the martyr Omar Junaid on 12/24/2023, accompanied by his brother Yasser, who was released after four months of detention. His family confirmed that their son did not suffer from any health problems, and that he was working in agriculture, and was preparing to complete his marriage.

The Authority and the Club stated that the detainee Omar Junaid is one of dozens of detainees from Gaz
a who were martyred in the occupation’s prisons and camps, specifically the (Sde Teiman) camp, as a result of severe torture, in addition to hundreds of bodies of martyrs whom the occupation admitted to detaining.

They added that the occupation continues its crimes against detainees in its prisons, crimes that today constitute one aspect of the war of extermination, and which also constitute an extension of a long history of systematic crimes practiced by the occupation over many decades, but the variable is the level and intensity of these crimes.

The Authority and the Club continued that with the martyrdom of Junaid, the number of martyrs among the detainees since 1967 has risen to (258), and they are the martyrs whose identities have been revealed and their martyrdom announced, including (21) martyrs whose identities have been announced since the beginning of the war of extermination against our people in Gaza.

Last weekend, it was announced that detainee Islam Hassan Al-Sarsawi from Gaza had been marty
red, having died last April as a result of torture.

The Commission and the Club confirmed that the occupation continues to carry out the crime of enforced disappearance against the majority of Gaza detainees, and continues to conceal the real and total number of them, noting that the occupation prison administration recently admitted that the number of those classified by the occupation as illegal fighters from Gaza detainees who are under its administration (1584), and this number does not include all Gaza detainees, specifically those who are under the administration of the occupation army.

It is noteworthy that limited visits were recently made to a number of detainees in Gaza, who revealed horrific and shocking crimes, including murder, torture, and rape, in addition to humiliation, starvation, and other crimes to which they are subjected around the clock.

It is noteworthy that a number of international journalistic investigations had also revealed horrific and shocking testimonies of Gaza detainees wh
o were detained in the (Sde Teiman) camp, which today represents the greatest witness to the crimes of killing and torturing detainees, and next to it is a group of central prisons that witnessed crimes no less serious than the crimes in (Sde Teiman), the most prominent of which is the (Negev) prison.

The Prisoners’ Authority and the Prisoners’ Club renewed their demands for the necessity of opening an impartial international investigation into the crimes and serious violations committed against detainees in the occupation’s prisons and camps, as one aspect of the ongoing genocide against our people in Gaza, despite the bleak image surrounding the international human rights system, and the terrifying state of helplessness that has dominated its image, in the face of the crimes and atrocities committed by the occupation since the beginning of the war of extermination until today, which in essence constitute an attack on all of humanity.

It is noteworthy that the number of detainees in the occupation prisons
until the beginning of August reached about 9,900, and this data does not include all detainees from Gaza, specifically those in the camps affiliated with the occupation army.
