Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied what is being circulated regarding the abandonment of Iraq’s land or sea sovereignty, especially with regard to the “Umm Qasr” region.

The Ministry confirmed in a statement that the land border demarcation with the Kuwaiti side came in accordance with Security Council Resolution No. (833) of 1993, in which the Government of the Republic of Iraq shows its full commitment to it and its fulfillment of relevant international obligations, just as the land border has not and will not be changed since its officially establishment “.

The ministry indicated, according to the statement, that the government housing complex located along the border pillars between Iraq and the State of Kuwait, is located on Iraqi land, before its construction or after the move of its residents from Iraqi citizens to the residential neighborhood that was constructed to be a more stable alternative for its occupants and in a way that does not violate the sanctity of Iraqi sovereignty, which is not considered an option, but rather a path that the Ministry is working to confirm.”
