Jeddah: The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission is participating in the Jeddah Book Fair 2025 with an expanded, modern interactive cultural pavilion, continuing its successful integration of literature and technology to develop the publishing and translation sectors, empower local content, and attract a diverse audience. The pavilion serves as a comprehensive space for visitors to explore the commission's strategic work and key programs supporting the book industry.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the pavilion features several interactive experiences, including 'photo to animation' that transforms photos into anime characters, the 'short story device' offering short literary works via QR codes, and the 'literature cloud' allowing visitors to record their own creative audio content. A self-service book vending machine further simplifies access to knowledge for readers.
Director General for Publishing at the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, Bassam Al-Bassam, stated that the commission's role is to study the market and develop strategies. He highlighted the 'Tarjim' program, which has resulted in the translation of nearly 4,000 books, along with initiatives supporting publishing houses in digital transformation.
For the 2025 edition, the commission expanded cultural sessions and book signing events to create a richer program, focusing on encouraging and supporting Saudi authors, particularly emerging talent. A dedicated corner allows these authors to engage directly with readers, underscoring the commission's commitment to national creative capabilities and the sustainability of the book industry.
