Gaza city: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) emphasized that schools and learning spaces must remain protected under international humanitarian law, amid ongoing shootings and military attacks across the Gaza Strip.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq confirmed that a sixth-grade student was shot inside a classroom housed in a tent in Gaza City and was taken to a hospital for treatment. He added that the last remaining school in a complex that once included four schools in the city had been demolished, further worsening the education crisis in the area.

Haq noted that according to UN partners, Israeli forces deliberately destroyed the tents of about 12 families sheltering in the schoolyard and placed new concrete blocks nearby. The United Nations said the incident points to a further expansion of areas subject to access restrictions, underscoring the need for schools and learning spaces to remain safe and protected environments for students and teachers.
