UNRWA: Closing the Rafah crossing worsens the living conditions of the displaced in the Gaza Strip

General

Gaza – Together – Enas Hamdan, Acting Director of Information at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), warned on Monday that the closure of the Rafah land crossing in southern Gaza has caused a deterioration in the living conditions of the displaced in the Strip, in light of the scarcity of supplies of food, medicine and shelter supplies. .

Enas Hamdan said: ‘The closure of the Rafah land crossing created more obstacles to humanitarian supplies entering from the Kerem Shalom crossing, and caused a deterioration in the living conditions of the displaced in the Gaza Strip.’

She added, “No aid has entered through the Rafah crossing since it was closed following the start of the ground operation in Rafah last month, and the trucks loaded with aid that enter through the Kerem Shalom crossing are very few, and it is a drop in the ocean of urgent and unprecedented needs.”

She continued: “As a result, there is a scarcity of food, necessary shelter materials, medicines and medi
cal supplies, as UNRWA health centers have not received sufficient relief supplies for several weeks.”
