The US Navy announced today, Thursday evening, that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards have seized a merchant ship that may be involved in smuggling activities in international waters in the Gulf.
The US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, based in Bahrain, said in a statement that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards “detained, on June 6, a commercial vessel possibly involved in smuggling activities while it was transiting the Persian Gulf in international waters.”
The statement added that “the matter did not require a further response” after “evaluating the circumstances of the incident.”
