Energy Ministry Participates in Inaugural Meeting of Levant Pilot Project as Part of Efforts Towards the Arab Electricity Market

Riyadh, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Energy along with representatives from the Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority, the Saudi Power Procurement Company, and the National Grid SA, participated today in the inaugural meeting of the Levant Pilot Project.

This project includes, in addition to the Kingdom, both Jordan and Egypt, as part of ongoing efforts with the Arab League towards the Arab common electricity market and enhancing the trade exchange of electrical energy between countries.

Upon the signing of the Arab interconnection agreements, the pilot project will simulate exchange between countries and establish market committees.

The Kingdom’s participation in this project aligns with its ambitious plan to enhance its leading role in international electrical interconnection and the Arab electricity market.

It aims to become a major producer and exporter of renewable energy through electrical interconnection.
