Mecca: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has expanded its specialized services for the elderly and people with disabilities at the Grand Mosque, aiming to facilitate the performance of religious rites with ease and tranquility while ensuring a high-quality experience for all worshippers.
According to Saudi Press Agency, support for those with hearing and visual impairments includes sign language interpreters for sermons, hearing aids, and copies of the Quran in Braille. To foster independence and safety, the authority also provides white canes, digital reading pens for recitation, and specialized tools to assist movement throughout the mosque's courtyards and corridors.
Dedicated prayer areas have been established in strategic locations. For men, these include zones in the King Fahd Expansion (Gates 68 and 91 and the first floor), the Third Saudi Expansion (Gate 123), the southern and eastern courtyards, and the Ajyad Bridge.
For women, designated spaces are located in the King Fahd Expansion (Gate 88 on the ground floor and Gate 65 on the first floor), as well as the southern, western, and eastern courtyards, and the Ajyad Bridge.
