Riyadh:The Culinary Arts Commission has reissued "The Art of Saudi Cooking," a pioneering book that was the first dedicated to Saudi recipes. This initiative, in collaboration with Al-Nahda Women Society, which initially prepared and published the book, seeks to preserve and perpetuate the culinary heritage of Saudi Arabia.
According to Saudi Press Agency, The original project began in 1981 when Al-Nahda Society launched an effort to collect and document dishes from various regions within Saudi Arabia. A specialized committee was formed to oversee the book's preparation, conducting extensive fieldwork with women throughout the Kingdom to record local recipes, ingredients, and traditional preparation methods.
The committee, consisting of three women, spent several years on the book's preparation. Their tasks included collecting and verifying recipes, standardizing measurements and preparation methods, and overseeing the photography, review, and final production stages. The resulting edition showcases the diversity and richness of Saudi cuisine.
The Culinary Arts Commission has reiterated its commitment to supporting specialized, knowledge-based projects that enhance the presence of Saudi cuisine as a vital component of national cultural identity. This effort aligns with their ongoing mission to preserve, document, and promote culinary heritage both locally and internationally.
