GCC Secretary-General Commends France’s Plan to Recognize Palestine

Riyadh: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi welcomed and commended French President Emmanuel Macron's announcement of France's intention to recognize the State of Palestine.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi affirmed that the decision marks an important step that reflects France's commitment to principles of justice and international legitimacy. He noted France's support for regional and international issues and its efforts to strengthen global security and stability.

Albudaiwi urged countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to take this historic and responsible step. He emphasized that such recognition would significantly contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people and advancing the path toward achieving peace.

He reiterated the GCC's support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for a solution based on ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to relevant United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
