Doha: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) supreme council held an extraordinary session in Doha, chaired by Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, with the participation of GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi. The meeting addressed the recent Israeli aggression against Qatar, discussing the violation of Qatari sovereignty by Israeli forces targeting residential facilities housing Hamas delegation members amid ongoing negotiations mediated by Qatar regarding Gaza.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the attack resulted in the martyrdom of Badr Saad Mohammed Al Humaidi Al Dosari, a Qatari security services member, and caused civilian casualties, endangering civilians in a densely populated residential area. This act was deemed a serious violation of international law and a direct assault on international community efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and release hostages and detainees.

The GCC supreme council reached several key decisions during the session. Firstly, it condemned the Israeli aggression as a dangerous escalation and a grave breach of international law and the United Nations Charter. The council affirmed full solidarity with Qatar, pledging support in confronting the aggression, and emphasized that GCC states' security is indivisible, with any attack on one being an attack on all.

Furthermore, the GCC leaders directed the Joint Defense Council to hold an urgent meeting in Doha to assess defense strategies and threats, activating joint defense mechanisms and Gulf deterrence capabilities. The council warned that Israel's continued aggressive policies undermine peace efforts and threaten regional stability.

The council urged the UN Security Council and the international community to take firm measures against these violations and called for international sanctions. It stressed the need for urgent international action to deter Israel from violating international laws, which threaten regional and global peace.

The GCC commended Qatari authorities for their prompt response to the incident and reiterated Qatar's essential role in mediating a ceasefire in Gaza. The council urged adherence to UN Charter principles and appreciated international solidarity against the aggression. It called on peace-loving nations to condemn Israel's actions and support efforts to deter criminal acts in Gaza.
