GEAGEA URGES GOVERNMENT TO RECONSIDER ALLOCATION OF LBP 93 BILLION TO SOUTHERN COUNCIL

Government

Lebanese Forces party leader, Samir Geagea, on Wednesday criticized the government’s decision to allocate LBP 93 billion to the southern council to aid victims of the southern conflict, attributing the devastation to Hezbollah’s unilateral military actions under the guise of supporting Gaza. He argued that Hezbollah’s actions have not benefited Gaza but have caused immense suffering in Lebanon due to severe miscalculations.

Geagea pointed out the contradiction in the government’s stance, which initially denied involvement in the conflict. He questioned the legitimacy of using taxpayer money without public approval through their representatives. Highlighting the dire state of Lebanese healthcare, he noted that the funds could have been better used to provide medication for patients with chronic illnesses.

Moreover, Geagea clarified that his opposition was not against southern victims but against those making reckless decisions that burden the Lebanese people. He urged the government to reconsider; emphasizin
g it has no right to misuse public funds against the people’s will.
