Hajj: ‘Baseer’ Platform Enhances Crowd Management with Smart Technology

Makkah: The "Baseer" platform, with its smart algorithms, has emerged as an essential tool in managing crowds during Hajj, providing continuous monitoring and ensuring the safety of pilgrims. Developed by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, Baseer is a manifestation of the Kingdom's vision to leverage modern technology for humanitarian purposes.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the platform significantly aids authorities in promptly locating missing persons, both adults and children, and reuniting them with their families. This reduces the distress experienced by pilgrims and ensures a smoother religious experience. The platform's AI-powered computer vision technologies allow authorities to efficiently manage crowd movement, reducing congestion and ensuring safety in the Two Holy Mosques.

Baseer also facilitates the efficient allocation of resources and accurate decision-making, which are crucial for the smooth flow of traffic in the mosques' corridors and courtyards. This allows worshippers to perform their prayers in a peaceful environment, adhering to high safety standards.

The integration of technology and humanity in Baseer exemplifies the Kingdom's dedication to providing a safe and efficient Hajj experience. The platform showcases the potential of artificial intelligence technologies in enhancing the faith journey and ensuring the well-being of the Guests of God, aligning with the leadership's aspirations for a secure and digitally supported pilgrimage.
