Cairo: The 124th session of the Executive Council of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) commenced under the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The two-day session is being hosted in Cairo.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Chairman Hani bin Moqbel Al-Moqbel, in his opening remarks, emphasized the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's steadfast commitment to ALECSO since its inception. This commitment is embodied by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Al-Moqbel highlighted Saudi Arabia's vision for chairing the Executive Council, which is centered on cooperation and partnership, aiming for long-term investment in the future rather than short-term gains. He explained that the focus is on sustainability and reshaping the organization's future by enhancing public-policy formulation and implementation among member states, the General Secretariat, and partners.
He also pointed out that the session is taking place amid challenging times for the people of Palestine, reaffirming the council's unwavering support for Gaza and condemning the ongoing aggression. Al-Moqbel urged the international community to denounce the violations and halt the Israeli attacks, which jeopardize regional security and stability.
Over the two-day meeting, the council will address numerous significant issues reflecting Arab educational and cultural priorities. Discussions will cover the situation in Jerusalem and Palestine, educational needs in conflict and emergency situations, and topics such as education, sustainable development, digital transformation, the role of educational and cultural media, and the development of cultural and creative industries in the Arab world.
