Riyadh: On behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Elkhereiji participated yesterday in the ceremony held to mark the anniversary of Africa Day at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter, Riyadh.
According to Saudi Press Agency, in his speech, Elkhereiji highlighted Africa's potential, citing its natural resources, ambitious youth, and renewable capabilities. He acknowledged the continent's challenges, including conflicts and climate change, but emphasized that the spirit of cooperation and the aspirations for peace, justice, and development are resilient.
He also noted the significance of African countries in the Kingdom's foreign policy, stating, "Africa hosts the largest number of the Kingdom's diplomatic and consular missions, and we plan to increase our embassies in Africa to over 40 in the coming years."
Elkhereiji reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to enhancing cooperation and partnerships with African nations to promote trade, integration, and mutual support in international organizations.
He indicated that the Kingdom has provided over $45 billion for development and humanitarian projects across 54 African countries, with King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) contributing over $450 million to 46 African nations.
He also expressed the Kingdom's ambition to invest $25 billion in Africa, secure $10 billion in exports, and provide an additional $5 billion in development financing by 2030.
