Jeddah: Jeddah Municipality has announced that it has completed preparations for the Hajj season of 1447 AH, as part of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing system, through integrated plans designed to strengthen safety and public health and improve field response efficiency at vital sites. The efforts aim to ensure the satisfaction of pilgrims, residents, and visitors of Jeddah Governorate during the season.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the municipality said its Hajj plan covers areas affected by increased pilgrim and visitor traffic, as well as pilgrim routes leading to the holy sites. The plan seeks to step up inspections of kitchens, restaurants, commercial centers and markets, food and supply establishments, hotels, furnished apartments and entertainment facilities in the city to raise compliance levels and improve service quality.
It added that preparations include focused cleaning and environmental sanitation at sites where pilgrims pass, gather, are dispatched, and move, including the areas around the Yalamlam and Al-Juhfah miqat points within the jurisdictions of the Al-Lith and Rabigh governorate municipalities. This comes under the operational plan for this year’s Hajj season and is in preparation for receiving pilgrims passing through the miqat points.
The municipality affirmed that it is stepping up monitoring of licensed kitchens during the days of sacrificial slaughter, in addition to following up on and identifying livestock sale points to be approved by the Hajj works committee at the governorate. The season’s plan will also include supervising checkpoints, in coordination with security authorities, to prevent the smuggling of meat from sacrificial animals through the governorate’s entry and exit points.
