The FM discusses with the NATO mission commander ways to facilitate the mission’s tasks

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed with the commander of the NATO mission in Iraq, Lieutenant General Giovanni Iannucci, ways to facilitate the mission’s tasks.

The ministry stated in a statement: “The minister met today Iannucci and his accompanying delegation on the occasion of the end of his duties, and he was accompanied by Jose Anthony, the new commander of the NATO mission in Iraq.

At the beginning of the meeting, the minister expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by Iannucci during his tenure in Baghdad, wishing him success in his future duties, welcoming the new commander of the mission, wishing him success in his duties in Iraq.

The minister appreciated the efforts of the NATO mission in training and developing the capabilities of the Iraqi security forces, stressing; The security situation in Iraqi cities has been restored after the elimination of terrorism, pointing to the need to work to give a realistic picture of stability and positive developments in the country to the countries of the world.

The two sides reviewed the tasks carried out by the NATO mission in Iraq, which are limited to training Iraqi security forces and providing military advice, and the two sides also discussed ways to facilitate the tasks of the mission.

For their part, the outgoing and new leaders of the NATO mission affirmed the alliance’s commitment to supporting the security and stability of Iraq.
